This month, we talk with visual artist Tara Tamaribuchi about public art, perler beads, and being both a parent and an artist at the same time. Tara is a visual artist with degrees in both Journalism and Painting; she’s been actively exhibiting work on the West Coast for over a decade. She’s also a mother, a curator, a dancer, and more; we chat with her about how she makes it all happen.
To find out more about Tara, visit her website at www.taratamaribuchi.com
Or find her at CORE Gallery: http://www.coregallery.org (If you’re accessing this podcast in February or March of 2018, definitely check out Tara’s current exhibit at CORE)
Show notes:
We reference a piece of artwork made with perler beads at several points in the episode. Here is an example of Tara’s current perler bead artwork.
We also refer to a “public art bootcamp” at approximately 20:55. This refers to Seattle Office of Arts & Culture’s Public Art Boot Camp, a program offered to help artists learn the ins and outs of applying for public art projects.
